A Brief Guide to Handicapping (English Golf Union)

Scores for an INITIAL HANDICAP

These can be submitted from a measured course, and at Mapledurham this means play from the White, Yellow or Red distance plates

Complete 9 hole or 18 hole rounds must be played and 54 holes of golf must be completed by way of 6 x 9 holes or 3 x18 holes or a combination of both.

There is no need to pre-register prior to playing a round for the INITIAL handicap adjudication.

Scores must be marked by a person acceptable to the handicap committee, ie another member with a handicap or a member of another club with a handicap noting his/her name, affiliated club and CDH number if known.

Maximum score for new golfers is par + 5 and holes not completed or scoring above this will be adjusted to par +5

Completed cards should clearly show player and marker names and signatures, date and the tee played from. Signed cards must be placed in the handicap box in the golf hub in the centre of the clubhouse.

Time frame for submitting a score.

A player should submit their score as soon as possible on the day of play, after completion of their round, and before midnight (local time)

General Play Cards on Home Course (previously Supplementary cards)

These cards must be pre registered on the touch screen computer or the IG app PRIOR to going to the first tee.  The round must be played on a measured course (whites, yellows or reds).

When the round is completed, enter your score on the reception computer or IG app dependant on which you registered your game, photograph the scorecard and put the card in the competition box. One card per player which is signed by both player and marker, clearly showing date and tee time and tee played from.

All rounds intended for inclusion as a Supplementary Card must be entered on the IG computer or IG App.

NO CARDS USING THE ENGLAND GOLF APP ARE PERMITTED for games played at Mapledurham

General Play at AWAY COURSES  please register on the England Golf App and complete the exercise as above - if not able to do so send a copy of the card to the handicap secretary by email on the same day.

Handicap Committees  are required to conduct an annual review of Handicaps.

For more information on Handicaps please contact Kym Kennedy (Handicap Secretary) kym_kennedy@msn.com or Martin Feltham (Golf Ops Manager) m.feltham@theclubcompany.com
